Welcome to The Heroine’s Journey: Futures Tales for Change Makers of All Ages.
Here you can find a collection of tales – inspired by past tales, new realities and emergent futures. We hope you enjoy the tales as much as we have in creating them.
Futures Tales is also an educational initiative focused on creating alternative futures through storytelling. The primary intent of this initiative is to facilitate and strengthen the emergence of progressive and socially inclusive futures.
We use constructive storytelling as an educational practice as it can bring about transformational change, a shift in worldviews. It is also easy to use, flexible, and inexpensive. The heroine’s journey intends to use local knowledge and language to foster peace and partnership-oriented individual and social narratives through the process of alternative story writing and revision of traditional tales. This is done through deconstructing master narratives, understanding deep cultures and transforming the underlying myths that shape our identities. Alternative stories – written by children and adults alike – can be a powerful tool to engage with critical thinking and promote a diversity of marginalized voices. To read more about this approach you can click here. If you wish to purchase epubs you can do so by clicking here. Paperbacks and hardback are available for purchase via all major retailers.
We hope the tales and the larger project will appeal to all change makers who desire to change themselves and the world.
This website contains excerpts from three stories: The Future Maker, The Gold Maker and The Peace Maker.
It also presents information about the original collection of stories in Serbian “Ko se boji vuka još? Moćne priče za odvažne i radoznale” [Who is Afraid of The Big Bad Wolf: Powerful stories for courageous and curious] published in 2012 by Eduko, Novi Sad.
Finally, it has three epubs available for sale.
Three of these stories – The Future Maker, The Gold Maker and The Peace Maker – are authored by Ivana Milojević, and designed by Charmaine Sevil and Lynda Sampson. The Serbian collection of stories is authored by Aleksanrda Izgarjan and Ivana Milojević.
The purpose of these stories is to challenge traditional, often destructive worldviews, especially towards girls and women and create new stories that empower and inspire. We invite you to work with us on creating a partnership society through storytelling.
Besides the stories themselves we offer:
1. workshops on how to create alternative futures through storytelling;
2. speeches on narrative foresight and constructive storytelling;
3. educational foresight programs where we work with educators, communities and institutions to create alternative and preferred futures.
Hope to hear from you!
